Great wind out of the south. A 'committee boat-less' start added to the fun. Course down to Diamond Island, Lake George Club North, and an upwind finish

LGCYC Race 5

Aug 05, 2007      Wind Conditions: Light

Starting course was north around Cotton Point, back down to the north buoy of Canoe Island, and back to the finish line. Race started with light wind of 4-5 knots out of the north, and slowly died to 0-1 knots. Course was shortened to accommodate the lack of wind and finish became downwind of second leg. Sea Hawk was Race Committee.

LGCYC Race 4

It was a crazy day, race started with no wind, then began to build shortly after the race started, It filled in fast and soon we were seeing gusts in excess of 30 knots, this lasted until we were half way around the course, then the wind left us as fast as it arrived. All boats drifted along the east side of long island until a soft breeze picked up to carry us around the north end and across the finish line.

LGCYC Race 3

Second race of our joint event with Y-Knot. All the Martins and a number of the cruising boats sat this one out, a fast I-2 course in 15+ knots of breeze.

LGCYC Race 2

First race of our joint event with Y-Knot. A shift from a light west wind to a building north breeze forced Sam Walters and his race committee on Happy Days to shift the course 90 degrees. And some confusion in the start sequence resulted in the prep and class flags coming down a minute early. A short I-1 course and about 10-12 knots of breeze resulted in a very quick race, with most boats electing to stay with white sails and not fly the spinnaker on such a brief downwind leg.

LGCYC Race 1

Scott Romanesko on Seemor was Race Committee. With a light breeze out of the south, course was Diamond Island and the buoys to the east of the island to port, Long Island to port, and finish. The breeze remained light and almost completely disappeared as the boats approached Diamond. Then a fresh breeze came in from the east/southeast just as the lead boats entered the channel east of Speaker Heck, and stayed fairly consistent to bring all boats across the finish.
